    The primary responsibilities of the EHS Coordinator include Safety and Health compliance in accordance with OSHA regulations, directing safety related training efforts and proactively improving the overall safety performance of the organization.




    • Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
    • Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach;
    • Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure; developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness.
    • Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property are in compliance with NHBB policies and safety requirements.
    • Maintain and update as needed SOP’s for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in training.
    • Provide advice, assist, and audit line supervision to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working.
    • Contribute to NHBB’s Training Plans by conducting employee orientations; emergency response training/drills; and assist with coordination of other required training programs
    • Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.
    • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations
    • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support SES management
    • Coordinate action plans with VP, Director and Operations on facility deficiencies related to safety inspections
    • Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements;
    • Assist with maintaining NHBB’s Integrated Contingency Plan and procedures.
    • Accountable for researching and writing permit applications and work with environmental manager to be compliant in completing permit reporting requirements.
    • Review accidents and incidents which occur at NHBB and conduct audits, report and manage the corrective actions. Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis
    • Maintain working relationships with Regulatory Agencies
    • Lead the Safety Committee for NHBB.
    • Perform Risk Assessments and Job Hazard Analysis for NHBB.
    • Lead the Emergency Response Team and comply with all Company policies and procedures regarding emergency notifications and reporting
    • Prepare applicable reports as necessary
    • Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors


    The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.


    BS Safety and Occupational Health with applicable chemistry classes. 2-4 years of safety experience in manufacturing or closely related field.

    Familiarity with OSHA standards and requirements.

    Relevant technical and computer skills (MS Office). 

    First Responder Certification and an ergonomic background is a plus.


    Must be able to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.

    Ability to be the driver of swift and focused accident investigations that result in preventative outcomes and measures.

    Individual must be highly motivated, able to work independently, and demonstrate good problem solving skills.

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.

    Ability to be flexible and work closely with all facets of the organization is required.
